SNSPA, School of Governance
The National University of Political Studies and Public Administration (SNSPA, Romanian abbreviation: SNSPA, Şcoala Naţională de Studii Politice şi Administrative), established in 1991 as a school of governance and training of professionals for essential social areas, is a landmark in the Romanian academic setting.
In its three decades of existence, SNSPA has trained professionals who due to their level of knowledge contribute to the drawing up and management of public policies in state institutions, to the development of the country’s international affairs, to the organisation and management of business in private companies, to the improvement of communication and to the process of nation or company branding.
Known both nationally and internationally, SNSPA is a state institution of higher education, scientific research and professional academic training offering undergraduate degrees, master’s degrees and doctoral studies. SNSPA trains and develops professional competencies in Political Sciences, Sociology, Administrative Studies, International Relations, Diplomacy, European Studies, Communication Sciences, Psychology, Management, thus contributing to change at national and international level, a change based on democratic values and principles.
SNSPA stands out because of its educational commitment with the purpose of finding answers to contemporary issues, at national as well as at regional and global levels.
SNSPA offers numerous study programmes, at all levels and types of academic education, the entire structure of the study programmes being compatible with the Bologna Process.

SNSPA is a university where the teaching and learning process is student- and result- oriented. SNSPA encourages and supports the development of specific skills in order to enable the students’ access to the labour market, the permanent dialogue with the students, the students’ involvement in projects, in administrative activities and in solving the problems of the academic community. SNSPA awards prizes to first-class students and organises cultural activities for the students.
The teaching staff of the National University of Political Studies and Public Administration, a source of prestige for the institution, includes nationally and internationally acknowledged experts, state-of-the-art researchers, dedicated teachers, professionals that make learning challenging, useful and highly rewarding.
The SNSPA professors’ voices are listened to and respected in the public space, being recognised for their objective attitude which relies on experience and professionalism. Reputed intellectuals, the SNSPA professors stand out in the public area as diplomats, ministers, state secretaries, lawyers, political scientists and sociologists, experts in public relations and communication, managers. Throughout time professors such as the following have taught at SNSPA: Mugur Isărescu, Eugen Dijmărescu, Adrian Năstase, Teodor Meleșcanu, Adrian Severin, Petre Roman, Theodor Stolojan, Ioan Alexandru, Ioan Vida, Mircea Geoană, George Cristian Maior, Mihai Răzvan Ungureanu.
SNSPA is continuously developing and, through its activities in domains related to governance sciences, it intends to become one of the leading research centres in Romania, while also increasing the visibility of the research conducted in this institution at European and international level.
The scientific research activity in SNSPA contributes to the development of the necessary knowledge and skills to put theory into practice and to find solutions to issues beyond the academic interest. It is concerned with the social, economic and political environment, it stimulates external colaboration and attracts funding sources.
In SNSPA research is carried out in the following fields: Political Sciences, Administrative Sciences, Communication Sciences, International Relations, Management, Sociology and Psychology, these domains being also included in the university undergraduate studies.

Alongside the Doctoral School, some of the components meant to stimulate scientific research in SNSPA are: research centers, individual and collective contributions of the teaching staff and students through the academic journals published by the faculties of this institution. In addition, the publications of our academics and researchers (books, research articles, papers and reports in various fields of study, etc.) as well as their public interventions stand proof of the ongoing research activity conducted in our university.
